MMA Randy Couture and stock market update 8-28-07 5:30 pm

Well I have a lot of reading on the last UFC. It was an impressive win for Randy Couture. I think everyone has to be impressed what the 44 year old MMA fighter was able to accomplish. This wasn't a lucky one punch fight. He did a great job utilizing all his skills.

Randy Couture

From what I read on MMA Weekly, Randy Couture broke his arm when he blocked a kick from Gabriel Gonzaga. This fight reminded me of when Randy defeated Vitor "the Phenom" Belfort, another Brazilian who dominated the mma scene early in his career.

I use to wonder how much these fighter made. With the internet you can find out if you look. From MMA Punch, they published the stats:
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has release the figher payouts for UFC 74 and by no surprise the main man, The Natural, took home the largest share of the $755,000 payout pie. The numbers below include base pay plus bonuses for those fighters who won.

Randy Couture: $250K
Georges St. Pierre: $140K
Frank Mir: $66K
Renato Sobral: $50K ($25K currently being withheld by the NSAC)
Gabriel Gonzaga: $45K
Roger Huerta: $34K
Joe Stevenson: $32K
Marcus Aurelio: $30K
Patrick Cote: $24K
Thales Leites: $18K
Clay Guida: $14K
Kendall Grove: $12K
Josh Koscheck: $10K
Antoni Hardonk: $8K
Kurt Pellegrino: $8K
David Heath: $6K
Ryan Jensen: $4K
Alberto Crane: $4K

Total UFC 74 Payout: $755,000

I believe the popular fighters like Randy and Georges St Pierre may possibly get a cut from the PPV sales too. Those numbers are usually never published and not reported to the NSAC. Now the next UFC fight is on September 8 on Spike TV @ 9pm and it is FREE and will showcase Dan Henderson vs Quinton Jackson. This should be a great fight. It can go either way, but I think Henderson will take it.

Now, on a different note, bad news shook the market down dramatically today. I think the numbers speak for themselves today. All three indexes opened down at the beginning and never looked back as it plummeted. :(
