Acer C7 Chromebook 11.6 in Intel Dual Core B847
I actually bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago. The first one was the ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T 11.6-Inch Touch Laptop. That cost over $500 with tax and after playing around with it for 2 weeks I exchanged it for this Acer C7 chromebook. Funny enough, the actual physical computer looks like they came from the same factory and are almost identical in build.
I remember wanting a chromebook a few years ago when google was giving it away to a select few. Of course I did not win or get selected. Back then it seemed so experimental. I have tried linux and different variations in the past. They seemed ok but not for me. I even purchased a barnes and noble nook and converted that to an android tablet using the sd card boot trick using the Dual Boot CyanogenMod 9 Alpha & Nook Color Stock 1.4.1. Google it if you want to learn more about it.
Anyways, I am blogging on my Acer chromebook and very pleased with it. It did cost $199 but with tax and shipping direct from google it does come up closer to the $250 mark. Looks like amazon is carrying it now.
These are the videos I watched while researching my new gadget...
Like most reviews you have seen this is really just for surfing the net. There is a big hard drive and I love the extra 100GB cloud storage free for 2 years which almost pays for the chromebook itself. However, your windows programs will not run on this gadget. That is because it is a chrome o/s book and not a windows o/s lappy.
For the price, I highly recommend this. You can try it and if you don´t like it just return it back to amazon under there no fuss a-z return policy.
If you like linux ubuntu, then you will love the dual boot feature on this machine. Here is another youtube video of Brad demonstrating it.
